I work on some pretty well integrated systems. A lot of my current job is switching around memory modules. Many of the slots are the same but the chips are completely proprietary so right chip in the wrong socket can cause some unexpected problems. Some permanent, some not. After major disassembly/reassembly flipping the power switch the first time is widely referred to as a smoke check. Much like dropping something is referred to as accelerated gravitational field testing.
Like I always used to tell my ex-wife: "It's not what you say but how artfully worded it is."
Wife 1 "Does this outfit make me look fat?"
My options (prior to wondering why G-D continues to allow her to breathe)
1.) "Definitely makes you look like a heifer."
2.) "No honey, don't place the blame on the outfit."
3.) "No, you being fat makes the outfit look bad."
4.) "I know how hard you've been working on that diet babe, and it really shows, you're almost where you want to be."
But I digress.
Anyway, anymore acronyms?
