I have merged the above post into the thread on Ich (Cryptocaryon Irritans) Treatment.
Hyposalinity, for treating ich, is the gradual reduction of the SG of your water from the normal 1.025 to about 1.012. Do this over several days. Maintain the water at 1.012 for about 3 to 4 weeks, and then slowly increase SG back to normal.
Some inverts can tolerate this treatment, many can not. Most corals will not tolerate this treatment. Like other treatments it's best used in a QT tank.
