Actually,
As far as the United States is concerned, the functions of the federal government are clearly outlined in the Constitution. What is so surprising is how few Americans have actually read the darned thing. I am one of the few people who carries a firearm with me everywhere I go, yet you will never hear me speak of my "Constitutional right to bear arms." My rights come from my creator; the Constitution forbids the government from infringing upon my right to bear arms. This and many other passages have been perverted by lawyers, politicians and other scum of the Earth.
Where is the Supreme Court in all this mess, would be my question. Talk about a group of pathetic assholes; these folks are the absolute bottom of the barrel as far as I can tell. High dollar welfare queens in black robes.
Again, my sense of humor probably doesn't come out in all of this and it makes me seem like I'm an angry guy. I spend more time wondering which cigar I am going to smoke than I do about which whore politician is going to steal my money and give it away in the name of kindness or benevolence.
I agree completely Dave, with regards to having one party in the White House while the other party controls Congress; nothing gets done and our country usually prospers. It's a mess when they match, as Mr. Bush and the neocon hawks have demonstrated over the first 6 years of Mr. Bush's term.
