Hope to be starting the set up sometime soon and atleast building the stand this weekend now that I have an idea on which way I will be going and the size of the refugium set up iI have in mind.

If you are going to do a refugium I would leave the sand and the mud out, and just use it to culture chaeto for nutrient export. The amphipods will love all the nooks and crannies that the chaeto create and you will have most of the benefits without having a lot of the headaches.
