Is the latest package you opened from the same carton as the previous package?

If so, it is the same fluxed chemistry.

It would appear that your Ca and Mg levels are low. This could be a result of low specific gravity / salinity. Recheck at an honest SG of 1.025-1.026 / 35 ppt.

If the solution from the latest package test differently than the previous package from the same carton, consider some variable in testing procedure and/or a change in reagent test solutions.

Yes,

It's a new bag, but from the same box as the four bags before it. I will perform these tests again tomorrow. I am going to check the SG right now to ensure it is where it's supposed to be. All the other batches that I have tested were given 24 hours to stabilize; not 2 minutes like the last one. I have no problems with claiming operator error!!

One last thing: When I use the refractometer, I usually go for the 35ppt using the scale on the right only because the scale on the left has closer lines and are harder to see. At 35ppt, it looks as if I am between 1.026 and 1.027.

Hmmm, lines closer together... and are harder to see....

Why did I suddenly start singing... Old man river?

Eye sight, short term memory loss are the first things to go. Then, ED.

I was always told that memory was the second thing to go, I can't remember what the first was...
