I just tried it now after about 8 hours and it is working again ( I did give a little whack on its side) Anyway, it works now. But rest assured, after hearing all that I certainly wont buy another one

Rio pumps suck!! I had bought one wth my aqua c urchin and I turned everything off to do some routine maintenance and poof! The pump never turned on again. I then bought a mag 3 for the skimmer and now it produces more skimate than I know what to do with.

Rio pumps work fine. you just have to constantly suck on the discharge side.

I had a rio on one of skimmers decide to leak out all the oil, and made a hell of a mess of my tank.
I know use Mags for everything.

Yes the best way to fix RIO's is to SMACK THEM!!! Works everytime... the problem is not so much the salt but the magnetic drives the rios you sooo smack them in there North pole to get the South pole goin' :guns:

Fortunately, I found this site before using my Rio and took it back and traded it in for a Maxi-Jet. Mag's and Maxi-Jets are the way to go. Thank you RAG!

Yep..I have a CAP on my skimmer.... it gets smacked regularly (every time I cut it off to perform maintenance)!!!!! I'll NEVER EVER buy another Rio or Cap.
