As you can see Rio pumpe are not generally well though of around RAG.

However, I would say that the advice given doesn't go far enough. Yes, you should wack them, but the wacks need to be hared enough to smash them into little tiny pieces. Then you throw out the pieces, and replace the pump with something decent. You will not regret this action.

If you are the brave sort, you can keep the RIO pump for circulation or for moving water from tank to bucket and so on. However, I do not recommend using the pump unattended. They are just too prone to failure.
