Ummm - sounds like you are cycling with bad salt. Like PrimeRib(reef) said, how old is this tank?
If it's new with nothing in it - let it cycle.
If you have living creatures in it, consider removing them.

the tank is about 2 years old and Yes I have alot of soft corals in the tank and fish they all look like they are doing ok What is one of the best sat to be useing and should I be useing Reef salt ???

Carefull with that ax, Eugene. You have had high nitrates for some time and while I agree with doing a significant water change, I don't recommend you do 50 to 60% all at one time. Water changes, due to temperature and salinity difference between old and new, are stressful to your ecosystem. You would be better off doing 10% water changes each day for 5 days. Less stressful that way.

You can easily avoid the stress of PH and salinity difference simply by matching the existing system prior to the water change.
It's already too late now, he's done it. If I had readings that high and my corals looked bad, I'd do the same thing.
If things didn't look like they were dying on me then I would take your approach with smaller more frequent water changes.
