Smile RO filter

I'm interested in buying an RO filter for my 80 gal. I don't think I would need it to produce more than 15GPD (wouldn't mind if it did though) but I'd like it to work very well.
Does anyone know of any that work well?

Check our sponsor Premium Aquatics INC - live rock and aquarium supply

give them a call even, they would be more than happy to discuss the right RO system for your needs.

When you get your RO filter, it is essential to run the unit on a regular basis.

If you produce 15 gallons of water then turn off or disconnect the unit for days to weeks at a time will result in dramatically reducing the life of the filter.

RO filters filters / removes dissolved solids and bacteria from tap water. These dissolved solids and bacteria stay / collect in the filter chamber. Unless the filter is run or operated on a regular basis, these collected ions can damage the filter membrain.

Our RO machines produce 150 gallons per day. If we don't need that much product water, we use an interval timer to allow the filtration system to run for 30 minutes every 12 hours. This has proved to extend the working life of filters.

75gpd is a standard for RO filters. These generally have a 98%+ rejection rate. Trust me when I say, 75gpd is NOT a lot of water. It is a very slow stream. The higher the rejection rate, the less DI resin that is used up to clean up the rest of the water.

Ebay units are generally garbage; a mix match of crap and junk in a neat package. Unless you know what you are looking at, you would be better off going elsewhere.

Russ from www.buckeyefieldsupply.com is a local by me, is incredibly helpful and will be happy to set you up with what you need; not sell you stuff you don't.

As a bit of a warning, I bought the 150gpd set up from Russ. There is a problem with the auto shut off valve working with this size. He sent me all related possible problem parts and we went down to the 75gpd size. This worked fine. He sent all parts free and was a great help. He made sure everything was working and that I was satisfied with the system.
