The tank has been running for 3 weeks and on friday I took my yellow watchman and my yellowband maroon out of the qt and put them into the tank... they were in qt tank for a month..
The clown seems happy, he likes to swim in the currents.. however the watchman found a hiding spot on the bottom and was doing fine.. i go out about an hr before the lights go out and come home about 2 hrs afterwards and i cannot find the watchman...
On saturday i worked all day but when i got home i looked everywhere for the fish, even in my filter sock..
So today i was doing a water change and noticed something move out of the corner of my eye in the sump, and sure enough there he was... somehow he got into the overflow box through the U tube down the drain into a filter sock, out of the sock under a baffle and over a baffle in the sump and he was near my return pump which didnt have a cover over the intake!!
I cannot figure out why or how he did this.. he is tiny, about an inch..
you guys think a peppermint shrimp bothered him or something when the lights went out, i have 4 of them and 2 are twice the size of him??
Current inhabitants:
yellow banded maroon clown
yellow watchman goby (in sump)
4 peppermint shrimp
6 cerith snails
6 mexican turbo snails
6 astrea snails
3 nassarius snails
Here is a pic of him..
The clown..
Peppermint..
Throw this in for the hell of it..
Full tank shot..

Yea, gobies are good at doing just that. I can't count the times a small one got through my filter system to the sump. Of course it's also possible he jumped from the tank. and got lucky and landed in the sump.
About all you can do it put him back in the tank, and try to use a finer filter screen to keep him out.
Put him back in the tank at about 8 just got home and he is in the sump again... i need to find a way to stop him from getting in there... the overflow comes with a foam block but i didnt like it because it gets dirty fast, and i have a filter sock..

yes.. i found this black plastic mesh thing that we used to keep the leaves out of the gutters but the holes seem to be just big enough for him to get through i was thinking of doubling it up but there isnt enough and im not sure if i want to put it all around the top by the teeth, would have to buy more, or just use a little bit and zip tie it to the intake of the u-tube and double it up that would prevent him from getting into the sump but he could still get into the box that is in the tank..
On another note what i thought was micro bubbles in the tank turnes out its just hundreds and hundreds of some type of pod, maybe you guys can help me out... they are all over each pane of glass and some are just floating around in the currents here is a pic of one of the larger ones..
