As for Houston, I am almost certain all of the following: Euroreef, Jelliquarium, PCL Travel, Nature's Ocean, Ocean Nutrition and ReefCentral, did not pay any money for their sponsorships. They donated services or goods for the raffle.
Adam is correct. I also know that in addition to the companies Adam listed, MACNA XVIII did not make any money off of FragExchange, Boston Aqua Farms, AFM, FAMA, or OM Stone International. FragExchange and Boston Aqua Farms provided supplies for the workshops, OM Stone International made stone cutting boards as gifts for the speakers, and AFM/FAMA gave some money towards the reception, but MACNA XVIII paid more than AFM/FAMA gave to them for advertising in the magazines, so they lost money on that deal.
That leaves only two silver levels supporters and four standard supporters and I am unsure any of them actually gave money.
Well, I can save Steven the call to Boston, as RAG did not go to Boston as RAG had a scheduling conflict. However, he should get on the phone again and call D.C.
6 months prior to D.C. we were working out the internet connection. I had contacted the hotel and had a connection arranged. WAMAS decided they would try to get a comped connection if they sold out additional rooms. I brought my suitcase full of equipment to provide the connection and at about 2pm on Thursday we were told that WAMAS was getting a connection.
Thus they got a router and set up the connection. Everyone was wireless except RAG as we ran a 50ft CAT5 cable right to their router! I remember this quite vividly as I ended up forgetting my cable their! ARGH! and that was good cable!
Anyhow, to make a long story short, RAG once again had a hand in negotiating and acquiring internet connections for MACNA!
While I don't look forward to this thread being renewed, I have been open and honest since the beginning and wish to continue.
Previously I stated that we did not have nor forsee putting together a deal for any magazine to produce our programs. We intended all along to produce them ourselves. But, we were made a very generous offer that saves us both money and time and should help future shows.

Jeeze, can we give a point to the RAG team, we called this one!
You know what, I am sitting here reading all this and saying to myself I am in the wrong business. I love to make money and from what it sounds I need to get in on the trade show circuit. This is just simple math and putting these on quarterly I could have the thing making well over $100,000 a pop after expenses in my pocket and work about 6 months out of the year. If you aren't making money at one of these there is something terribly wrong. Jo Jo the idiot circus boy could figure out how to make a killing hosting one of these trade shows.
Except that as a board member of a non-profit company, I am precluded from making one penny from working on MACNA or any other dutied in relation to PMASI. But other people and events such as Dennis and IMAC are for profit ventures.
