Default Banggai Cardinal

Banggai Cardinal has been placed on the USA 2007 endangered species list.

CITES has rejected a proposal to protect the Banggai cardinal, a species believed to be under threat from aquarium fish collectors.

The United States of America presented a formal proposal to the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) at the fourteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties in The Hague last month, which asked for the Banggai cardinal to be afforded protection under Appendix II of CITES. Imagine, a fish that was discovered less than 10 years ago. Now being over collected.

These are one of the easiest fish or breed and raise in captivity.

I was under the impression that most of these fish being sold in the USA were captive bread. If you read through both links, you'll see the proposal by the USA was rejected.
