I'm not saying it's not impossible but most machines in stores are only RO and not RO/DI because there is great debate over whether RO/DI water should even be consumed by humans. It would be nice if you had a TDS meter to test the water yourself.

Yeh I know what you mean, I definately need to get a TDS meter anyway, but the machine actually did give a choice between just RO or RO/DI. I must say that although my marine experience is not very great, I still believe it to be a reliable source of good water cheap. Maybe its my bias, I did work at a whole foods for a few years, but they have all the info right there. I'll test it though, it'll be interesting to see what it comes out too.

Beware of LFS water. They produce lots of water with inadequately sized systems and usually don't maintain the media. Most of the stores in my area use hobbyist systems to produce water for their store and customers.

This is interesting actually, I have been using water from whole foods for some time now. It is really the nicest RO/DI I've ever found. I agree with Aimee, its checked constantly, its clean and its half the price of my LFS. My tank loves it. Likewise, I've found "budget" reefing to be easy if you research and remain attentive. My 20 gallon nano is nice, but i've taken my time to not overstock, and I'm on it like white on rice.

I'm going to have to check my local Whole Foods. Not that I need it, I have my own filter but I still find it hard to believe that they are actually selling RO/DI for drinking. Most machines are just RO.

RO/DI tastes bad IMO. RO water tastes pretty bad too. I prefer some minerals in my drinking water.
