Default New Giant skimmer

Here are some pictures of a giant skimmer made from roto mold storage container, commercial orca needle wheel pump, and scrap acrylic. It's a vertical 40 gal storage container from Den Hartog Industries. It has to have air injected into the venturi. I have an air pump I can adjust.

It's definitly not the under the stand skimmer. I also use a marlin pressure pump for the inlet water. That's over 2000gph into the skimmer.

Wow! I really didn't think anybody would post. I built this for a customer of mine. His tank is a 336 gal. It is rated for over a 1500 gal. I have seen other monster skimmers made of fiberglass, octogon shape acrylic, etc. I just thought I would make one out of the Ace roto mold storage tank.

It reallly works great. Super fine bubbles with no burpping or random large bubbles.

Yowser!! Thats a monster alright. If you dont mind me asking, what kinda cost involved in making one that size? Gotta be less than the aqua c1000 that I was thinking of for my 240

I am making another one for a 240 gal. I do know that it has four times the power than the orca 250. If a person doesn't mind seeing the chamber bubbles it is one fine skimmer.

The materials add up to about $675. The NW pump alone was $349.00 but well worth it and real quiet. It does take another pump to pump in the water and the use of a quality air piston pump.

A monster for the price of a small Deltec - Not bad.

I know most aren't really interested but this skimmer has tiniest air bubbles I have ever seen. Pumps are very quiet. I need no air pump but I wonder what it would be like with one. I think I really out did myself. It is large einough that I think I could pump over 3500 gph in there with my two inch pipe return.

I will be posting a picture tonight when I get my camera back! I am shocked this skimmate is so dense.
