Default DIY Kalkwasser Reactor for the inept.

I could build a nice pretty beautiful acrylic reactor but I have decided to do one quick and dirty. So this build will be for any of you who are maintaining your tank with water changes but deplete calcium quickly.

I have almost all parts in the shop except for a few, so I will have to get them this week. I plan to do the build on Friday when it is raining.

4"/3" PVC knock out closet flange. $5

15" of 3" PVC pipe. $5

3" of 3" pvc pipe.

2 3/8" Uniseals $5

3" union. $5

3" to 1.5" pvc reducer. $2

1.5" male slip to 1/2" female threaded pvc insert $1

1/2" male to 1/4" barb threaded hose barb. $1

12" of 1/2" CPVC pipe. $2

1/2" CPVC Tee $1

2 1/2" CPVC street elbows $1

1 maxijet 400 $15

some 1/2" ID tubing and 4 hose clamps $5

3/8" NPT tap $5

3/8" male thread to 1/4" tube john guest valve. $5

1/4 barb check valves- get a couple they wear out.

Auto top off system

So grand total is going to be around $60 not counting glue and auto top off.

Full detailed pictures to follow on Friday!

You will need a common hand drill, hack saw, and pliers that is it.

10 minutes tops to assemble and those bastages did not have any 3" unions in!!! So I am going to order a couple through McMaster Carr. What a wasted trip into the hardware store!
