Any chance you will take a video of him killing and eating a hermit crab? I love raw nature, and the Discovery Channel has cut out a lot of the violence that occurs in nature.

You and me both; I don't see it happening with Tiny though.
I think Tiny has been captive for a long time; he is very lazy
and only wants me to feed him. There are tons of small snails every
where so I went to my lfs and bought three large snails ( I payed $3.00 ea. for) my thinking was the small snails wasn't worth the effort for a little meat. When I got the snails I put them in there and sat down for what I thought was going to be a treat. To make a boring story short he is still walking all over them.

"Who tames a mantis shrimp" I was looking forward to shells cracking heads being cut off crabs rip apart; thats what a mantis does!!!

He sits at the front of the class and begs for food when i'm in the room.
Leave it to me to get a very lazy and docile mantis when I wanted a real
mantis. Oh now don't get me wrong I still love Tiny he has a great personality.

Tiny is a little over 6 in. I measured him when he was stretch out in front the other day. I have also had my hand in the tank several times; last night he covered up my sponge so I went in to uncover it. Tiny stood up and beg for food when he seen my hand in so I am thinking someone has been feeding him by hand; I might try it later when I feel more confident.

Can you believe this I have a mantis but really I don't!!!!!!

I don't think it will be long now olsalty
He has been mad at me for not feeding him every day.
I went 4 days Patrick and the snails are still there; he
has been taping on the glass so I had to feed him.

I will be buying another tank soon.

Last night at feeding time he broke my feeding stick with one tap

I can roll over, sit and run to get his food!!

Tiny molted and I was going to get a picture of it but I can't turn the light on right now. When I came home and seen the molt I turned on the lights and left the room to find my camera; when I came back he was laying upside down looking dead. I turn off the lights he turn over right away and came straight to me at the front glass as to say "what the H*ll". So when a mantis molts they need darkness. Tiny never stays in his cave so when I turned the light on he was in the open.

I know they like dim lighting so the light on that tank is a coral life bulb just a little better then the yellow light that comes with the hood. The light is on for 4 hours a day the rest of the lighting comes from the window.

Do you think that its a family/genus thing or species? My peppermints wont come out when the daylights are on only when the act's and moonlights are.
