FTS 20 gal. Tinys home

Side view

Tinys cave

Tiny coming out to see what I am doing. Notice the nice big snail above him!

Rico;
Some shrimp are nocturnal; I was told and read that fire shrimp are; but mine are not.
(The Blood Red Fire Shrimp prefers a habitat providing it with a cave or overhang where the lighting is not too intense). My shrimp are always out and in front in my 55 gal reef; they also clean my hand when I let them. Tinys out in the open a lot but when he molted he wanted darkness.

Wow. That is so neat!
There is one at the LFS I go to. They have had it for a long time. Last time I was in I was told a funny story about it..Remember I have seen it several times. But always avoided it.
There is a large sign on it' s tank. DO NOT TAP GLASS! John said a man and his daughter came in. They were looking at all the different fish, and then came to that Mantis. The man tapped the glass a few times. John said that Mantis hit the glass so hard it sounded like a gun shot. Scared the man so bad and the daughter started crying. They left in a hurry. I guess some people just don't care about signs...lol
John told him, The sign says Don't tap the glass. (It also says do not put hands in there)
I am pretty sure he isn't too tame..... Prime if you want one it is at Tank Solutions.

Well last night I heard some loud taping; very loud so I knew it was tiny.
I took off to the spare room to see what tiny was up to and there he was finally eating a snail. Tiny didn't break open the snail shell he flip it upside down and pulled the snail out; but we are getting close. I will be going to my LFS this weekend to pick up a crab.

That is funny Alane; what is even more funnier to me is when my husband ( of 6'2 220lb a rambo in the making, hunter, DIY; I am a man man do it all can't scare me ) jump like a girl when he was looking right at Tiny when he hit a rock. He said he didn't even see him move thats how fast his strike was. Tiny is now breaking my LR in order to get his pad the way he wants it.

I was doing a water change on the rock tub at a store I worked at about 10 years ago and when I opened the ball valve out shot a rainbow mantis. It was a good score.

Well my Mantis Tiny has no determination to be destructive.
Last night I added another large snail as soon as it drop in he was all over it.
I was so glad to see him grab the snail and take off for once again I thought
was going to be a treat. Tiny decides to turn the snail upside down and grab
some sand to but in the snails opening. Since I thought he was not hungry enough
to eat the snail and just play with it; I went in and turn the snail over and sand out.
I figure if he was not going to eat the snail let him live. Well this went on for 3 to 4 more times to finally I gave up and went to bed. This morning the snail is still upside down with sand in it. My only reasoning for this is; maybe he is not hungry enough to eat right now but saving the snail for later meal (I hope). The sand in the snail shell will stop the snail from leaving or is there some other kind of madness to his action. The snail can't go far it's only a 20 gal. tank!!!

I am sorry, but it sounds like your mantis was abused as a a child. You should seek counseling for him.
