I find that I can't agree with the thoughts expressed by the image of Uncle Sam saying "This finger wasn't made to press "One" for English."
In this era of a global economy, with a lot of people that don't speak English, it is only reasonable to have things like ATM machines and similar items like web pages be able to accommodate other languages. Things like this have been done in Europe for many years.
It is also to our advantage to have items like traffic signs using the international pictures, so drivers don't make errors and cause accidents.
Doing such things costs us next to nothing, and makes it a lot easier on visitors to the USA.
Considering the accepted business language of the world is English whether it be American or British english, I have to disagree with the support of your argument Dave.
Making things easier for [i]visitors[i] to the USA is one thing, but I believe all of us know the real reason why Spanish is offered in virtually all phone systems, atms, satellite tv programming, radio stations, etc....Illegal immigrants. Hell, I went to a Mcdonalds in Raleigh last week and the entire staff(management included) were Latinos. They even went as far as to speak their native language between each other(from cashiers to cooks, and so on). How do I know they werent saying "Spit in this white man's food, I dont like the color of his shirt" or something similar?
I've got no problem with someone trying to impove their life situation, as long as it is not at my expense or inconvenience.
Get used to it. The "White Man" WILL be the minority. It's only a matter of time.
I just want to know if we will then get a "College Fund", or "White Man Month".
