I purchased "cured" live rock, and it came to me full of dead worms. *Sigh* So i pulled out as many as I could find and started curing it once again in my tank with live sand. (no livestock) After 3 weeks of finding and pulling smelly dead worms, it has stabilized at 0ppm for ammonia, nitrites, and >5 ppm nitrates. Now I'm playing the waiting game to make sure it holds out before i start to get a few fish. Skim, filter, monitor, and remove the obviously dead/decaying matter. What's hilarious is my levels were sky high, I got the flu, and as I emerged from hell a week later, everything had balanced out! Such a good present I think the key to curing is just having patience....and not rushing it...
