I would think that if the tank is thoroughly cleaned afterward the copper would be removed. Does anyone know the official answer to this?

Another question I've had: How long should corals and inverts be QT before introducing them to the display tank?

When you treat with copper, the copper can get absorbed by just about everything, but for items made out of class or plastic and similar non-pouris materials, this is minor.

The problem areas are live rock, the sand bed, and many types of filter media. If you change all those, and clean the rest of the system you can use it for corals and inverts again.

It has been proven that just a good cleaning with vinegar water after a copper treatment and the tank is completely safe for inverts and corals.

This is a huge myth perpetuated on the boards.

From what I understand (which isn't much), chelated copper and non-chelated are different as one can be removed with carbon.
