Default Cultured LR

I am in need of some advice...I would like to find some rock for my 240 that is dry so that I can play around with aquascaping without having to worry about having any die off or having to epoxy wet rock together. I understand that it will take time to seed the new rock(with pieces from my 75) but I'm not sure what type to get or even where from.

Anyone used this type of rock before?

TIA

You can buy dry rock - marcorocks.com is one source

You can buy dry homemade rock - garf.org is one source

You can make your own using GARF's instructions.

Which would you use if you were to do it this way?

I would first look for someone tearing down a tank locally (sometimes you can get it for $1 / lb this way) and then dry it out myself.

Otherwise I would probably go with the Marco. Looks like it would be a lot more porous than GARF's rock. I do have some of GARF's rock and it is on the dense side.

The last one you should consider is garf recipe. It doesn't have all the lime out of it from the binding agent.

I found a site that sells cretaceous rock(fossillized coral reef - on land). Should be just the thing, right?
