Three reasons:

1) These were fragged from my softie tank so I'd rather leave them in there instead of adding the additional shock of moving them to a different system.

2) I'm trying to keep the softies out of my SPS tank because they give off toxins (especially when newly fragged).

3) My frag tank still looks like an algae forest.

Chuck,
I didn’t realize you were still having an algae problem. Now I understand why you bought a second skimmer.

I know you had mentioned that you were overfeeding because you were battling Ich but I would throttle back.

I also kept thinking to myself that maybe all the zeo supplements were adding to the algae growth. I officially gave up on Zeo and yanked the reactor out and stopped dosing. The algae is now on the decline.

Hmmm dosing Zeo supplements; I don’t know much about the Zeo reactor but maybe this is suppose to happen until the system adjusts? I think I would have left it hooked up a bit longer and throttled back on dosing just to see how the system reacts.

I've been playing with dosing levels for at least 6 or 7 months. Too much hassle. It's one of those things that apparently work for some and not for others. To me - it's just too much work, period.

Keep it simple that’s my motto. I just do a lot of water changes and don’t bother with anything else.

And that's exactly what my current intentions are. I've been drifting and need to get back to the basics.

Well I'm certain that will work. Why don’t you switch your Zeo reactor to a Phosphate or Nitrate reactor?

I put the phosban reactor back on the system today although my phosphates are good. Still testing out at .01 with the Hanna photometer.
