I have a 36" still laying around.

I do have a ballast and a reflector for PC's if you want to do a DIY light. I "think" the ballast will run 2 - 65 watters.

I hung that light about 9-10" above the water.

I have one last question. Is it detrimental to Chaeto to run a protein skimmer?

What kind of fixture is that 36"? I am thinking about a decent light for over my son's freshwater tank. Thanks

Sorry. You'll be fine with 15 - 16 " of water on top of a 4" sand bed.

Just make sure that you have room for water to drain on shut down (if water even settles in the fuge - it may not).

Is this fuge going to act as a sump? There will definitely be drain down like Chuck said if this is the case. Sorry about hijacking your thread. We all generally try and help each other out. Sometimes getting off the subject at hand.

No worries. Always helpful on RAG. Yes, I have a sump/fuge combo with probably 5 times extra what is really needed for drain down. I also have a floor drain in the room, so no problem with major accidents.
