Default which skimmer to use

Hi everyone,,, I have a question for yall with aquapod tanks... What skimmer would be best to use for a 24 gal aquapod? I think if they make one to fit into the compartment in the back of the tank that would be great. But if not a HOB i guess will have to work...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks , Chad

Aquapods are smaller tanks, and also an " all in one" system. This means that fitting a skimmer on one can be tricky. Current, Aquapod's manufacturer does make the Fission nano skimmer, but I don't know how good the skimmer is or how well it would fit into an Aquapod. This is an internal skimmer that goes inside the tank.

For a more traditional tank, I'd recommend somethign like an AquaC Remora skimmer. This is a hang on tank model, and is generally considerd an excellent skimmer. It may be difficult to fit on an Aquapod.

The other consideration is that in a tank this size you can easily keep up with things by doing water changes. A 5 gal water change and you have changed about 1/4 the water.

I think this is the same skimmer Dave is referring to but Aqua c has a Aqua C Remora Nano skimmer too. It's powered by a maxi jet 900. 13" Tall X 6"W X 2-3/4"Deep. Minimum tank opening is 5-1/4" X 1-1/2" and is rated up to 20 gallons.

I was thinking of the standard AquaC Remora.

It's rather common knowledge that skimmer manufacturers tend to be "extremely optimistic" when rating them. You usually want to get a skimmer rated for a tank about double the size you plan to use it on. IOW, if you have a 50 gal tank, you get a skimmer rated for at least a 100 gal tank.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys for the advise... I looked at the Aqua-C remora and a few others and I think that Im gonna go with the Tunze 9002.. It will fit into the chamber where I need it to and since Im going without a hood I shouldnt have any other issues... It is around 150 bucks so it will have to wait until next payday...LOL .. Anyway thanks again for the advise, Ill be around...
