Hello all,
Well, my peppermints aren't doing their job, so I want to eliminate my aiptasia problem myself. I want to use the kalk method. i fugured I would just use an old syringe from one of my salifert test kits. So how do you mix up the kalk paste to inject it at the aiptasia? Also, do I need to make sure none of this gets on other corals, or live rock? I have some rocks with a lot of baby aiptasia starting to grow. Can i just squirt the entire area?
thanks,
j
I think you actually need a needle. I have always heard that you have to literally inject the paste right into the center of them.
To make the paste, just take some Kalk and add a little bit of water. "Mush" it all up until it's a thick liquid, (a little wetter than paste).
As far as the baby aiptasia, I wouldn't squirt the Kalk paste in the entire area. I would give the peppermints a little longer on those, and just go after the large ones myself.
It took about a month after getting my peppermint before I started noticing the slow decline of the aiptasia population in my tank.
