Yea, it's very difficult to get a fish out of a reef. Although, if your tang gets the disease from time to time, it most likely means that the other fish are also, just that you don't see it. You might want to remove all the fish and treat all of them, and let the ich die off in the main tank.

This is the same fish that we all thought had LLD not to long ago isn't it?
Dave, is there a specific salinity that kills the parasite? if this kills it for sure I would think leaving them in the display would be better for them. ( Except for) When we say low salinity is hard on inverts, does this include softies as well. Star polyps, leather coral, Xenia, etc?

Remove all fish. Great idea in theory. Mush easier said than done.

Nope. He just darts behind the rockwork when the net is moved. He is however getting hungry and has been eyeing the trap. I think he may enter it by the end of tomorrow.

It sure is the same fish.
Hypo - Hmmm. I'll have to brush up on the topic myself. This may be a possibility depending on what can withstand it.

Sometimes, to catch a fish, I have to leave the fish trap in the tank for a day. Then, when I go to feed, I add some nori, tie some fishing string to the trap door and sit back.
Just a few suggestions.

The trap is one made following your creation. I've used it several times in the past and has worked everytime.
So far...............

Yes it does your coral will not be able to handle the salinity below 1.020 or even lower for hypo. I believe 1.018 for hypo

He will get hungry; you just have to wait him out.

Check,
The specific gravity should be between 1.010-1.012 for true Hyposalinty, however I wouldnt recommend this in your case since you have multiple tanks including your frag tank with SPS corals. Never run Hyposalinty on a reef tank...

Got him.
He's now in a QT with a few pieces of live rock rubble, a sponge filter that had been sitting in the sump (for instances such as this), a power head, an air bubbler and a DIY cave (upside down rubbermaid container with a door and some holes cut it in for flow.
Drip line is hooked up and dripping. On our way to hypo.
The scopas tang also came down with ich on the intial infestation but quickly recovered and I assume he built up an immunity. The only other fish that shows any signs is a bi-colored blenny. He can slip right through the eggcrate trap so I can't catch him with that. I may try to whip up an inverted bottle trap and see if he takes that bait right off but it will have to be quick. The drip line is already dripping in the QT to start bringing the salinity down.
