In addition to what L.Baldrey gave you here are the results of a search on ich by subject only:

http://www.reefaquariumguide.com/for...?searchid=3968

The above link no longer works, you'll need to use the search feature of RAG and do you own - DaveK

First, and most important, never ever medicate a reef system. I don't care what the LFS store says, or what the medication says, do not consider any medication reef safe.

Second, don't panic.

The best alternative is it get your self a modest size treatment tank, set it up and use it to treat the fish. You only need a modest filter system, and a few decorations so the fish can hide. Then treat there.

The best, and least invasive treatment is hyposalinity. Over several days gradually reduce your SG from it normal of about 1.025 to about 1.011. Keep it there for 2 - 3 weeks. Then reverse the process to bring the SG back to normal. If there is no alternative, you can do this in your main tank, but it may be tough on any inverts you have. The parasites can not live in low salinity.

If that fails to work, you will need to move the fish to a treatment tank and treat it there. I prefer copper sulfate used with copper test kit. Treatment is 2 to 3 weeks.

heres another thing that seems to work... try cleaner shrimp. Ive never had an ich problem but the owner of my LFS get fish with ich all the time and he has a 30 cube with like 15 cleaner shrimp that pluck off the little white spots on the fish. like i said "I" dont have experience with this but hes been in the business since the 70's so...

Well, I'm glad to hear that you got it under control. I would suggest that you get a small tank, 10 gal or so, for future quarantine purposes. They are very inexpensive to set up and maintain.

The links provided by Lyndon (L.Bladrey) to the excellent atrticle in Advanced Aquarist don't seem to work. Here is my attempt to get the links correct. This serries of articles will likely tell you more about the disease than you ever cared to know.(smile) For treatment information, pay special attention to part 3.

Sorry about that, I almost always use the RAG id with my posts. To some people their id is sort of an alter ego, and they much prefer to be refered to by it. (smile)

In your case though, from now on I will refer to you as "Lyndon dude" ! (evil grin, and just teasing)

Take care,

Dave
