I did take a while to get rid of it.give it some time and use it as a preventative measure.

I use a product call NO ICK. If your fish is not too sick or still have some with no ick, try the product. I used it many time in the past with some success. The ick never attack my clam, star fish, see cucumber, shrimp, anemone, crabs, ..... The no ick can be use in a reef tank without a problem. It is expensive and you must use it as a long treatment. Do not use medication with copper in a reef or you will lose some of your livestock. I also add one drop of baby vitamin that you buy at the pharmacy in the food to help boost the health system of the fish. Fine garlic chop and mixe with frozen brine shrimp is good also in prevention but does not cure fishes who are already sick, not in my case anyway. Good lock

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with reefbase1 on the use of NO ICK in a reef tank. I don't care what the bottle says. Never ever medicate a reef tank. Always medicate in a QT tank.

IMHO, and I have said this many times before, no medication is "reef safe".

I have merged the above post into the thread on Ich (Cryptocaryon Irritans) Treatment.

Hyposalinity, for treating ich, is the gradual reduction of the SG of your water from the normal 1.025 to about 1.012. Do this over several days. Maintain the water at 1.012 for about 3 to 4 weeks, and then slowly increase SG back to normal.

Some inverts can tolerate this treatment, many can not. Most corals will not tolerate this treatment. Like other treatments it's best used in a QT tank.

QT tank is the best idea. I had a recent ich problem and after doing alot of reading on here this is what I came up with and it worked quite well for my situation. I spent over $100 on "reef-safe" ich treatments in my main tank at first and nothing happened at all. But...I was able to save 3 fish with the cheapo hospital tank in the pic. I used a 15G cheapo tank, a cheapo lid with 2 25 watt lights, a HOB aqua-clear filter, a spare heater, a spare powerhead, some cut-up PVC pipe for hiding places, a tall tupperware container filled with mature bio balls from my display tanks sump, and went to treating with a copper based treatment. You could also try hyposalinity first but that didn't work for me either. All 3 fish are now cured and doing well however they are still in the QT tank while I wait out the ich bloom in the display tank. I am going to give it 2-3 months total before beginning to re-introduce the fish into the main tank. This little QT tank would be a good idea for using to QT fish before putting into your display tank from now on and can be emptied and stored in a closet when not in use. If you have tangs or something larger that needs some more swimming room to not feel stressed, you could always buy a larger (20G long or 29G) QT tank for not much more money. I have about $55-$60 wrapped up in mine and that was more than paid for by the fish I saved and I will definately use it from now in when I purchase any new fish to observe them for a week or two before they go into my main tank. In the pic I have a divider in the center to seperate 2 types of clownfish that would fight in a small tank.
