My reply to Stus might have been.... We did not get our information from links on the internet.

We hired and commissioned Ph.D's, consultants and experts to give us the information we required.

I shared some of this information with RAG members.

The information we paid for is the property of Aqua Craft Products.

Thanks all for your replies.

I've started having some Aiptasia that are big enough to go after, and I've noticed that their are several in the pump chamber of my aquaclear filter. Maybe I'll give em a good multi-soak as Dave describes.

Thanks!

Post by Stus on this thread have been removed, as I considered them flames, and counter productive to the nice attitude on RAG.

Enough said.

Default Curing Plastic Containers

Wow...I have read a lot of books on reef keeping and marine aquariums, as I am just getting into the hobby. But I have NEVER come across one mention of curing plastic buckets before using them to store salt water. ...and I just went down to Wal-Mart and bought 8 brand new 6-gal containers to make up some RO water for a new tank. They are all filled and ready to dump into the new tank when it arrives tomorrow. (Siggggghhhhh...) So I guess I'll have to dump out the precious RO water, cure the buckets and start all over.

But do you think I can "save" a week's work, and keep this water, or will the chemicals in the new buckets forever tarnish my first tank?

Thanks for helping me to avoid a major disaster!

Discard any water in question.

Water is the cheapest part, but the most essential part of all aquairums.

WHY use salt water and bleach to cure rubbermaid? I understand the bleach part buy why salt water? I understand our reef systems are salt water but what does that have to do with curing plastic?

Any reaction from uncured contaners that will result from contact with salt water is best done with salt water that will be discarded.

Picked up a used food-grade 55g barrel, smells like worchester sauce, should I go ahead and do the process first stated on the first page?
