I got the QT up and running and put the seeded sponges in the corner filter on Jan. 8.
The Qt cycled in about 5 weeks and I added the first fish on Feb. 16 - A very Handsome Midas Blenny (Ecsenius midas)!

I am only going to QT one fish at a time and they will spend 6 weeks in the QT- Longer if there are problems and I have to medicate. Today Opus the Midas Blenney has been in qt for 4 weeks and all is well.

I spoke to soon for poor Opus.
The day after I posted above I checked in on him and then went out to brunch. # hours later I come back he was dead.

NH3 =0
NO2 = .1
NO3 = <5
temp = 77.5
Sg = 1.026
ph = 8.1
dkh = 6.25
He ate well.
No visible signs of distress or disease - except for the dead fish.

It has been suggested that he just was not acclimating to captive life
or possible cyanide collection.

Anyway my LFS has a Long nose Hawk fish inthat they are holding for me. I am going to bring it home this weekend. I just want to make sure the QT is ready fo the next fish.

My fav Open Brain (Trachyphyllia geoffreyi).
If you look closely on the 3rd and 4th pic you can see a barnacle feeding from the coral.

Sorry to hear about the blenny, but on a good note those rics and other corals are looking pretty darn gorgeous. I am hoping my rics take off and color up. What lighting are you running again?
