I layed the tile myself. That is a "step up" to offset the dining room from the living room. This is a condo with one big room as the living/dining area. I figured that would kind of offset it as a separate room. The killer is that I layed tile over the entire area and then thought of the idea of raising the dining area. So I built a box and covered up some of the brand new tile.

Maybe I should have started another thread for my 65 gal tank build.

I'm going to have to modify the stand more than I originally thought.
I put some leftover mica on a sheet of left over wood to create the top for the stand.
I had to remove a brace to get the sump into the cabinet.
Now I realize that I can't get the skimmer into the sump. I could put it in through the top at this point but then removal for cleaning would be impossible.

I "think" if I cut a hole in the floor board of the stand and set the tank on the floor within the stand that I just might have enough clearance to get the skimmer in there.

Here's the dining room. Don't mind the mess.
That wall was originally mirror. I had fun breaking that and removing it in order to tile the wall.

Maybe if you drill a hole in the stand, your tile floor and your neighbor's ceiling below you, I bet you could just drop it out when you want to clean it.

Seriously, maybe cut an access in the side and install a door?

Funny man you are. I actually thought about buying the place above me and turning this into a townhouse. Then I realized that with two maintenance fees, taxes and mortgages I could have a house and acreage.

I also thought of cutting out the side and putting the sump on a dolly so that I could wheel it out of the side. Then I realized that would be so much work that I should have just made the whole darn cabinet myself.

I literally only need about 1.5 - 2.0 inches in order to clear the top of the tank and get the skimmer in there. A hole in the floor of the cabinet is the simplest solution at this point. I think.

We have a hole. Now to see if it works.

OH MAN - who's gonna clean up all the saw dust? Honey, I need you.
Dang - forgot she was sick. Guess I'll have to do it myself.

Maybe just take out the whole bottome and nail another bottom onto the very bottom of the stand and slap soome molding on it to hide it. What about the stand being a foot longer than your tank? I suppose that isn't that big of a deal.

BTW, I scored 17 SPS frags from a member who tore down their tank. Some are small, but I thought I got a good deal for that many frags. So, now mine is SPS dominant.

Hole is cut - It worked. I put the skimmer in there WITH the top on.

17 SPS frags - Kewl. You didn't say how much though. I recently scored 14 for $75.

Cabinet is a foot longer simply because you never have enough sump space. More than likely I'm going to end up drilling the sump and running an external pump and I wanted to make sure I had space in the cabinet for it. The one caveat (from the better half) to setting this one up was that everything HAD to go under it. I couldn't have crap hanging off the sides and setting next to it. So I have a 6" ledge on each end. No biggie to me.

Well, you got a better deal than me then. That'll teach me to brag. Mine was 17 for $200. Still not bad.

Umm, Chuck, the whole reason for the 150 project was to get rid of all the extra ancillary tanks and stuff. So, now the second tank begins already!!!>?>>>>>???????
