Default Rico's Reef

I should have started a tank thread a long time ago so you'll have to find my past threads to see the beginning - sorry.

Here are the latest additions to my 75g

This is my first attempt at fragging my pulsing xenia. It's almost doubled since I cut it.

I couldn't resist this plate coral for $39.00 from my LFS. It's about 5 inches in diameter

My turbo snails do a good job of cleaning on the LR and the glass but nothing to the DSB so I got this one - I was told it was a Tonga Fighting Conch - related to nassarius I think

I had to place him on the LR to get pics cause he dives under the sand too fast for me to even focus him in

Good Job on the fragging.

I sure hope you don't regret it later.

FAST FORWARD - 1 YEAR (note photo date)

Love the photoshopping, Chuck. Wanna place an order for some for next year?

I figured that even I couldn't mess up fragging xenias. A good place to start, I think...

LOL - No way. I just put a big rock of xenia in my softie tank that I'm sure I will regret. Within 3 days some stalks were already attached to neighboring rocks. I'm going to top that off with some green star polyps as well. I'm just going to let the softie tank go CRAZY!!!!

My Kent Hi-S RO went south for the winter. Actually, Whilst I was in the process of moving it to its permanent home, it got accidentally bumped off the handrail where I had placed it temporarily. 16 feet later, at the concrete patio, I now have about a 12 piece unit(the RO membrane cyclinder makes up 5 of those 12 pieces). I just received my new Spectrapure 90GPD MaxPure MPDI from Premium Aquatics. Now I just need to figure out how to plumb it permanently(I used a garden hose adapter for the Kent unit).

I hooked mine up to a 1/2 line in the house. I reduced it down and used a 1/4" ferrule and connector. I was told to hook it up to the soft water. Does anyone disagree? I just fraged some Zenia's too. I got 4 babies all set to go to the LFS this weekend. $10.00 a piece. That paid for the original cost.

you mean like refrigerator ice maker tubing?

My xenia frag dissappeared. Maybe into one of the holes in the LR. Hopefully it climbs back out before dying

I don't know but I would definitely check it out. An LFS here was notorious for selling water that had a lot of phosphates in it. The owner told me it had something to do with the water that they were filtering was going through a softener first.

I didn't check into it. I simply didn't buy it. So at this point, treat it as hearsay.

Have you tested the water straight out of the unit for phosphates?

The standard ( IN ) line for the RO/DI units is 1/4" tubing. Like Ice maker.
I have not tested mine for phosphates directly out of the softener. The owner Russ at ******* recommended that it be hooked up that way.
