Default Bare Bones Tank,Sump, Stand

Ok, the Tank, Stand, Canopy, and Sump are here! Actually they have been here for a week. After taking the thing down 3 times due to leveling problems and changing the plumming twice due to leaks I finally got it up and running!

One word: LOUD! Darn overflow sounds like a river... gona stuff some rock or something in there to quiet it down....

Im gona start filling it with RO today!

Default Right Side of Stand

Here is the right side showing the skimmer, sump, pump valves, and the return through a 1.5 inch return flex hose(which I have to find a way to anchor down)

Default 1sy Day - Up and running with 100 lbs Rock and 100 lbs Argonite

Here is the tank on its first day of cycling... I still have to add a check valve to one of the sea-swirls and figure out how to reduce the amount of bubbles being generated by overflow-sump path (tiny bubbles...tiny bubbles... living inside my tank....ok ok ok Ill stop!)

I managed to get a good deal on the rock - 3.50 for cured rock which I got to pick 100 lbs of myself. I think he was getting a rather large shipment in and needed the room - he could have ordered uncured for me sight unseen for close to 3 bucks. This way I get to see and pick what I want - as you can see from pic I am still short about 30-50 lbs of rock.

Got fair price on Argonite sand - 20 bucks/25 lb bag - ended up with a 100 lbs of the stuff..

Soon as cycle seems stable Ill add some spineless friends into the tank (eventhough I had a copepod and a crab scare the hell out of me while putting the rock in)

Default 7 Days into Cycling

Here is a pic of the tank after 7 days. What happened this week:
1. I gave up on the second pump as one pump seems to have plenty of flow - the second pump was the reason for the bubbles and not the overflow
2. Been measuring Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite and Im at < .5 , 0, and 10 ppm respectively.
3. I had 5 snails and 2 hermit crabs and either a pistol or mantis shrimp (not sure which yet) come along for the ride with the live rock - 2 snails are dead (figure Ill leave them in tank and provide foor and cycling material) - one hermit is MIA - the rest are doing just fine
4. I got tons of amphipods squirming throughout rock (thats good)
5. Skimmer isnt skimming much yet but I figure it should start now that those 2 snails died.
