Figured i would start a thread and post the progress of the stand and tank...
I basicaly measured and cut most of the pieces tonight. They all have to be sanded to the exact size yet which will be done tomorrow. The only thing im debating is to build the right side tower as part of the base or as a seperate piece. The bottom Electrical part will be a switch panel controlling everything.
"I wish I had that skill I would like to make a stand. Good job."
LOL! Me too!, never actually done ANY woodworking project before.... the design i got off of GARF and added some to it, the side and canopy will be done once i get the tank on there to fit it right. Anyone out there good with this stuff? I dont know if i should go with a thin fyber board for the panneling or a thicker 3/4" board to add more support.
and Rick, there will be only one side to it which will be the shelving, the other side will be left open.
Well last night i put everything togeather, squared the frame, and sanded all rough edges of the base, The shelving is now connected to the base. As for the canopy, i have no idea how i am going to do it just yet without physicaly having the tank on the stand... ALso, starting to think about the sump im going to have in there with a fuge, it will most likely be a DIY sump, any suggestion on what size to go? Then again my LFS told me they could get me a Berling or Oceanic sump at cost since im buying the tank from them, which would you prefer from the 2?
