Here we go... I was planning on going reef today but my tang's ich decided otherwise. Well, my 2 frags are still safe at the lfs where theyre been for over a month now.
So while I'm treating the ich I added more semicured LR its going through some very minor fluxuations in the chemestry and it should be done before the ich is.
I know it looks strange but I wanted to maximize territory for the fishys and max out floor space for my sting-ray
it must have been fun aquascaping your tank, looks good

Hey joe I say where you going with that gun in your hand, well I going down to shoot my old lady because I caught her messing around with another man. Jimi Hendrix
not fun...... i have so many things to consider. first and most important is my stingray. maximizing floor space for her, so i had to build the wall straight up - thats a chore. all my filtration is HOB so i have the intake and exhaust for my canister, surface skimmer connected to another intake, another intake for another filter, the pump for the skimmer, the heater. but wait theres more. the skimmer and one of the filters microbubble so i had to guild up far enough to have LR blocking most of the micros, the heater and wire.... lets not forget rockslides falling less than an inch from my stingrays head.
i wish i knew ive torn the web apart looking for the species and cant identify her. its disheartening to not even know what she is but i love her all the same. such a beautiful gentle creature she seems content but i do still feel bad about the tank size anyways.... the rock is.... mostly stable. used to have huge rock slides and slowly the slides work their way up as stuff i reset becomes more secure. as if by magic i did what i thought was impossible, and everything you see in there is NOT touching any of the filtration i can take the entire intake tubes out of all the HOB filters hanging in there without distrubing the rock..... now where to put the coral is the hard part i still dont want to take up her floor space first 2 pieces added last night my reef was born
I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing, but you should never add semi-cured live rock to an established tank.
Your best option is to get something like a 5g bucket, mix up some saltwater, put the rock in it, and test the water until it's cycled (just like you would a startup tank). The problem is that now this cycling process is taking place inside your tank, which is exposing all your fish to ammonia and nitrite.
Just FYI for the future... if the rock is 'fully' cured, then you can just plop it in... but semi-cured rock still needs some time to do it's thing before you put it in your tank.
As far as the ich goes, just keep the tang well-fed and happy, and the ich should pass... that's the method I've always used and have yet to lose a fish. Since ich is usually brought on by stress, removing the stress is the #1 way to cure it (IMO anyway).
Nice aquascaping too... like others have mentioned though, make sure it's stable before you start adding corals (I usually balance all my rock on 3 points).
im sure im gonna end up getting to know my brand newest bestest friend - underwater epoxy. whats in there now is stable except the very top pieces. the LR i thought was cured at the time since it was still wet but i watched the water flux for about 2 days and settle back to normal. that was way before the ich though
