Apologeticlies' 46gal Bow Front

Ok, for the longest time, I've always wanted to do a reef aquarium, finally got the funds, and the knowledge to do so, and here it is.

46 gal Bow front
20 gal long sump
Aqua C EV-120 Protien Skimmer
Ehiem 1262 return pump
2X 100w Ebo-Jager heaters
1/10hp JBJ Arctica Chiller DBA-075
SCWD
Aqua Controller JR w/ DC-8
Current USA OUter Orbit 1-150 watt HQI; 2-96 watt 4 LED moon lights
My Fuge Light is the one off of Melev's reef

Livestock

1 Yellowtail Damsel
25 Blue Legged Hermit Crabs
7 (and counting) Feather Dusters
Small colony of some zoas it looks like
and Lots of macro algae

and the real reason you clicked the link... pictures...

I know the water seems quite high in my sump, but that was just a leak check, and I simulated a power outage and unplugged my pump, and checked how much water came back in the sump. So, no worries. I'm open to questions, comments, suggestions, and encouragement.

Ya, the water isnt even near that high now, even if the pump failed, its still well below the trim unlike in the picture.

So, today i thought my hermit crab was being eaten by another one, and it freaked me out kinda. Turns out, I think he's just molting.... good for him tho....

You got to love the Bow!! I have a 72 and I love it!! It adds so much to a room. I just rebuilt my 72 so it will be a while to be where i want but i can wait.

The only problem I had with my bowfront is the center brace lines up perfectly with my halide light, and it kinda blocks some light... But other than that, ya, I love it. I got borred of the traditional rectangular box. Does anyone know if I can take that plastic brace off? I've heard it'll make the front bow.... more, and take away from the over all stability of the tank, but I'm not so sure. There doesnt seem to be all that much tension on it... lemme know!

I thought the same thing with the bar. From what I read you need it unless someone can tell us other wise. I would leave it in. nothing worse then all that water never mind money washing out onto your floor.

ya... thats a LOT of water all over the place... salt water at that... regular water would be a pain, but it wouldnt corrode things nearly as bad as salt does... Actually this tank was the driving reason I got renters insurance... ya know, just in case I come home, open the door, and there is water everywhere... Not to mention, I live on the top floor, I'd have to pay for the people underneath me too. on another note, my center brace is getting a lovely halide tan, and my salt creep has a popular hang out place now...
