"Lucky you"! Personally, I can't stand canned vegetables, but I can eat most of them. IMHO canned corn is so yuck awful that it should be banned. This is one item I'll pass on.

I think it depends on what you were raised on. I was raised on canned corn and the frozen stuff has a funny taste to me.

I decided to try and make some pizza sauce from scratch today. I figured I'd make a small batch as a first attempt.

5 lbs of plum tomatoes and a whole bunch of hours later I have 600 ml of sauce.

I'm going to call it my $13 dollar sauce. I don't think I'll be doing this very often. Maybe when I can get a bunch of maters from a U-Pick place or something.

I may be just a bit biased but it does taste better than any bottled sauce I've ever bought.

And that's why sauce out of a jar is a lot less expensive. It's just not as good.

It's a bit late in the season, but sometimes when fresh tomatoes are in season, you can
get a good price if you buy in bulk. Since it's going to be a sauce, the tomatoes need not be perfect in all respects.

I cannot count how many pints of sauce i have, but I can tell you a six pack of tomato plants cost about $5 this spring.

Mix all the above together with one can of cream of mushroom soup.

One bag of tater tots. Mix half the bag with the above and put in the bottom of a casserole pan. Cover the top with the remaining tater tots and bake for 1 hour at 350.

I started some pizza/bread stick dough first. So as soon as the hot dish is done I will throw in a batch of breadsticks.

Thus tonights menu is tropical punch kool aid or milk, tater tot hot dish and garlic breadsticks.

I put the left overs in zip lock containers and freeze for fast quick dinners in the future.
Sorry - gotta give this one
I made it tonight, didn't finish my plate and gave the leftovers to a neighbor. Hope they won't hate me now.

I might have liked it better with more sauce and using mashed potatoes as a topping. More like a Shepard's Pie.
