IMO - Yes and no.

Yes - If you have a single mouthed ricordea but you only want to cut in half (directly through the mouth). You can pizza slice a shroom multiple times.

No - If you have a multi-mouthed ricordea. If this is the case then simply cut so that a mouth stays with each piece.

I agree that it's better to get some of the mouth with each piece. But if thats not possible the frag will survive without a part of the mouth it will just take a bit longer to grow.

Crypsis is correct as well. I have accidentally torn a few rics and several of the pieces without mouths survived as well.
