Default Softie Lighting + Pictures

My taro tree coral and pineapple tree corals don't open up all the way! I tried moving it around to different levels and locations but to no avail. It was open all the way initially, but after I rearranged some of the LR, it has since closed up a bit....any suggestions? Is it too much/too little light for a 30 gal??

I always wanted to keep SPS eventually but not sure if this lighting will handle them....

Lighting: orbit lighting system w/ 2 96 watt dual daylights (10,000K:6,700K) and dual actinics (192 watts of light total)

ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, phosphates: 0
dKh: 10
pH: 8.2
Calcium: 500
SG: 1.024

Oh and I've been pestering everyone so much I thought I'd owe you some pics of the setup

Neon Pineapple Tree (closed up, but he won't open fully either)

I'd say your lighting was about right for what you are keeping.

If these are corals you just got, give them some time to adjust. If this is an established tank, I would recommend a partial water change if things don't improve in a few days.

Remember, soft corals often will shrink up for a few days, so they can shed their "skin" and grow.

My colt coral and anthelias close up for a couple of days, usually when it is close to time for a WC. Afterwards they perk right back up. I read on another of your threads that you had a prob with a ph test kit. Is that 8.2 correct or could it be different?

The pH is "correct" according to two different test kits, so I'm assuming so. My lights went off a half hour ago, and they opened right up! Should they be lower? I never see my tank at night, I work nights and this is my first night off since I got them.

Like DaveK said if theyt are fairly new to the tank maybe they need more time to adjust. I always start new corals at the bottom and slowly work them up so they can acclimate to new liughting

It's been about a week and a half since I got them, and I am slowly increasing the photo period. None are close to the top really, I had them at the bottom for 3 days, then moved them up a little bit. I am due for a water change in a few days. I gave them a little bit of marine snow in the beginning, how often should I dose it for my corals that don't rely heavily on photosynthesis? Anything else I should be doing?

I wish I had more advice for you. I'm still quite new at this myself. I'd be interested to hear what some of the "experts" here would do.
Maybe should go ahead with WC. Couldn't hurt.
