Collecting trip for Raggers

Here are a couple of pics of some of the things I got on the trip.

The first is a conch. Dont think I was supposed to get it. I actually thought it was a whelk.

I'll get the pictures up soon. Been busy working on my sump today and it still isn't done.

I haven't seen my puffer all day today. I don't think that is a good sign.

My little puffer hides most of the day, but comes out when I feed some brine shrimp.

The tunicates were a bust as were the shrimp. DOA.

Now I gotta figure out what to feed the urchins and the conch.

The urchins and conch will fend for themselves. No need to feed extra on their account.

I'm still playing with my darn tank so still don't have the pictures ready. I've loaded them on my computer but need to resize them before posting. I'll get to it within the next couple of days.

I think some of my tunicates survived. Verdict is still out on a few of them though. Some that looked like mush are actually still alive.

I kind of got excited(stupid) and threw caution to the wind. I put a few of our collected critters into my DT. Here's what I learned in very short order...

1. Large rose urchins will knock over even larger pieces of live rock

2. Scarlet cleaner shrimps will attack whatever species of starfish that we got
(sent back to QT)
3. File fish will eat ANYTHING except aptasia
For examples: candy cane, zoas, greenstar polyps,anthelias, and even(sadly) Chucks singularia(just a bite or two before I caught him)

4. Pipe fish are STUPID! case in point: I had two, one apparently male and one very much female(and pregnant) see pic below
The female decided to have an affair with a Koralia powerhead and lets just say abortion is no longer an option. Very messy in the tank. Gonna have to to a WC and seriously clean tank tonight.

5. Puffers hate oscellaris clowns. He chases it everywhere and is only a third the clowns size.

Looks like you need another tank just for collected items.

Most everything is going to the LFS on Monday. Except the puffer and the peppermint shrimps.

Is this what happened to your tunicates?

Everything grew like a thin layer of "stuff" over it.



But this "stuff", whatever it is, can be blown away with a turkey baster.

Yup. Thats what they look like. Nothing much left underneath mine though. The Australian muscles have opened way up. Beautiful blue coloring. I'll take a pic later tonight.
